FDA Will End Temporary Guidance on Hand Sanitizer Production

Effective Dec. 31, 2021, non-drug manufacturers will not be cleared to produce products.

The US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) yesterday announced that it intends to withdraw, effective Dec. 31, 2021, guidance documents outlining temporary policies that allowed non-drug makers and manufacturers to produce certain alcohol-based hand sanitizer and alcohol for use in hand sanitizers.    The initial guidance was put in place in March 2020 during the COVID-19 public health emergency.    Effective Dec. 31, 2021, companies manufacturing alcohol-based hand sanitizers under the te...
